My main research interests focused in the field of plant molecular systematics and phylogenetics, plant species conservation and studying floristic diversity in sensitive ecological habitats in Sri Lanka and restoration ecology. In addition my research extends towards, distribution patterns and ecological niche modelling for endemic/native plant species. Research outputs have a direct impact of conservation biology.
