Welcome to the Ecology & ConServation (EcoServ) Research Lab
We comprise of field-oriented scientists passionate about conservation issues. In recognising the importance of collaborative research, particularly for investigating matters related to safeguarding biodiversity and ecosystem health, EcoServ has brought together an ideal blend of academics working in a range of disciplines – plant science, animal science, ecology, environmental science and molecular biology – which equips the research team to undertake multidisciplinary projects. In the backdrop of rapidly changing landscapes owing to deforestation and urbanisation, with consequential detrimental impacts on species and ecosystems, the central focus of our research activities and initiatives would be to generate knowledge that would aid in evidence-based conservation planning.
Our research seeks to entwine modern tools pertaining to molecular taxonomy, remote sensing, and modelling, with conventional applied ecological methods, to formulate solutions for urgent and complex national and global issues. Each academic would undertake, individually or collaboratively, research projects, in diverse conservation-related fields of interest. EcoServ will also actively engage in two projects dealing with ecological restoration of degraded landscapes through collaborative partnerships.
